The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.
But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually pushed up the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one service is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
